- In Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, an account can be opened in the name of only one daughter of a family, but if the second child is twin daughters, then the account can be opened in the name of both.
- Under the scheme, the account of the beneficiary girl child is closed in two circumstances. First, on the death of the daughter and second, on the change in the place of residence of the daughter, but after the new change, if the guardian of the daughter dies due to any reason, then in such a situation also the account is closed.
- Earlier in SSY, the operation of the account was handed over to the girl beneficiary at the age of 10 years. But now according to the new rules, until the beneficiary girl turns 18 years of age, she cannot operate the account on her own. The account is operated by the girl’s parents until she completes 18 years of age.
